Back in the day, the venerable Procaliber was THE cross country race bike. Guess what? It's still THE XC race bike. Trek's Procaliber 9.9 SL is made for one thing: crushing XC race courses and those who dare try hang on your wheel. That's not to say it only races. Shocking your friends, besting personal times up hill climbs, or just trying to squeeze that after-work loop in before it gets dark, the Procaliber is down. The full carbon frame uses Trek's tried and true IsoSpeed decoupler for the ultimate in lightweight efficiency that gently hints at a full-suspension rig. Up front, RockShox's inverted RS-1 leads the charge with a custom 100mm fork. And they don't call it "pro" for nothing, as this baby rocks XTR 1x11 gearing powered by full carbon Race Face Next cranks while XTR Race discs rein in the velocity. Everything on it is carbon: the Bontrager bars, stem, post, saddle rails, DT Swiss wheels, you name it. Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss.
Trek's G2 Geometry (version 2 of Gary Fisher's Genesis Geometry) delivers the ultimate ride for every trail. Genesis earned rave reviews for awesome handling on climbs and descents thanks to a long top tube paired with a short stem that moves the front wheel forward for top-notch confidence and control, while short chainstays add phenomenal traction. G2 Geometry takes these handling traits to the next level by boosting control on tight singletrack and technical climbs, too. This is accomplished by increasing the amount of fork offset (reducing trail), which makes G2 bikes steer more quickly, and by shortening the reach, which puts more weight on the front wheel for even better control and confidence. The two animations above showcase how G2 Geometry provides the perfect ride. |
